The 'Buxton Mountain' is an early season open time trial over a very hilly circuit in the Peak District covering a total of 33 miles (seniors). The event traditionally takes place on Good Friday, and this year is held on the 25th March.

The current course has been used since 2002, as the old course (featuring the climb of Axe Edge) has traffic lights now preventing riders going through Glutton Bridge.

In 2003, the event became a counting round of the Rudy Project National Time Trial Series and enjoyed the participation of many of the countries top riders.

Each year, the 'Buxton Mountain' continues to be supported by a large field of riders and has generous backing from local sponsors.
